The Worlds Just a Great Big Onion
Little wonder the word onion is based on the Latin word unio meaning oneness or unity, as the ubiquitous onion can be found growing almost everywhere. In fact, the city of Chicago was once a prodigious, wild onion field. The name Chicago is derived from the Algonquin word for the strong scent of onions.
