Price A Lemon by Any Other Name Although we may never know the exact origin of the lemon, some believe the fruit originated in the foothills of the Himalayas. However, the term lemon has left a juicy trail that can be traced around the world from Persia (līmū(n)) to the Middle East (līmūm) and eventually brought by Arabs to the Iberian Peninsula. A derivative of the Arabic term was eventually adopted by the Italian (limone), the Spanish (limn) and the English (lemon). This painting appears in the 2005 Food For Thought calendar.
